Watch what you say.....

Meghan is a sponge. She absorbs everything she hears, and repeats it when you least expect it.

Like last night when she was watching a Discovery Channel program about fossils with me and Nanny Jean....

Nan: What was that thing he was holding?

Me: a trilobite fossil.

Meghan: Yeah, Nan. It was a trilobite! (complete with the "don't you know anything?" tone of voice more commonly associated with a teenager)

Sometimes, it's even less appropriate.....Like in this recent conversation while we were watching football.....

Shon: That coach just dropped the F-Bomb.

Meghan: Yeah, the F-Bomb!!

(stunned silence from me, laughter from Shon)

Meghan: F-Bomb, F-Bomb.....O-Bama!! Obama! Obama!!

I can see it already....every time we hear "Obama" on the news, she's going to start chanting "F-Bomb!"

Meanwhile, Ethan is learning how to blow kisses and be generally affectionate and adorable. Maybe I can use his cuteness to distract the in-laws from Meghan's attitude for a little while.

  1. Ah, she's in what I call "the parrot stage". It sucks. I remember putting Tyler in his carseat, and whatever he had in his hand fell to the floor of the car. He looked down at it, and said "oh, shit" in this tiny little, completely serious voice. I almost keeled over...from both shock and laughter!

Meghan will probably save the F-Bomb comment for your worst day at the grocery store, standing in line behind someone who's checking out WAY too slow and in front of some crochety old lady.

When it happens...let me know. I'll drink an alcoholic beverage with you!!!!
